Parents in town

My parents came into town to visit the husband and I this past weekend. It was so nice and refreshing to see them we haven't seen them since the wedding and even though they live 6 hours away (driving of course) we are used to seeing them on a more regular basis.

Oct. 30th was my 24th birthday so the husband and I went to Fridays with some friends and had a drink.  My parents came up on Friday (Halloween).  My mother and I spent the day grocery shopping and making a huge dinner for my father and husband and while we were our the men stayed in and put together our new flat screen t.v. a gift from my parents for our wedding.  They also managed to bring up some of our other wedding gifts like our casual dinner wear, our new pots and pans which i was super excited to use, and a few of our other appliances. Many things are still at their house just because we don't have all the room in our apartment.

The dinner we made was fried fish, rice, squash with tomatoes, salad, rolls, and creme brulee for dessert.  It was so nice to be in the kitchen with my mom again talking and laughing and learning how to make some of the things she made for me when I was younger.

After my parents went back to their hotel for the night the husband and I got into our Halloween costumes and went to a party that a friend of ours was throwing.  It was nice to get out since we haven't been doing too much of that since my husband lost his job a month and a half ago.

Saturday consisted of a light breakfast at our apartment with my parents then we were off to J. Lohr wine tasting room and then to Cinnabar wine tasting room.  Even though I love wine I am not nearly as knowledgeable about it as my parents but it was nice to do something that I know they are really interested in.  After the wine we stopped back at the apartment for a little bit to freshen up for dinner Then we headed to Maggiano's little Italy a really good (kind of expensive but worth it) Italian restaurant.  While we were eating I ran into an old college friend of mine who works there it was so nice to see how he was doing!!!

After dinner we went to the movies and watched Changeling. The movie produced by Clint Eastwood, staring Angelina Joli.  It was pretty good and a little intense but definitely worth checking out.  We all came home exhausted from our day and went to bed.

We slept in today and just hung out around the apartment until my parents were ready to go. They left around 11:00 a.m. to make the long drive back home to southern California.
